ABC_5574Hi, let me tell you a little about myself! My name is Carly and ChopstixChic is a blog based around my life. My husband and I just got married this past November & will be heading back to Japan for our second year this spring.  I thought what better way to document all our adventures than to blog? I’m a lover of all things fashion & beauty and enjoy keeping a healthy and fit lifestyle. ChopstixChic will be a mixture of all those things ( mostly travel & fashion) and anything else I may have going on in my life. I hope you enjoy reading and thanks for stopping by!

You dream of who your daughter will be, what she will do, and where she will go, and I never imagined you would be in Japan. I’m very proud of you jumping into this adventure with Kris, I know it will be a wonderful experience for you both. I will miss you terribly but I know you are safe and having fun learning all about the japanese way of life. ❤️U

    Hello,Carly Comer-san

One of Carp Fan’s blog having directed me at your blog,I have been enjoying your posting.
This blog is well-organized, enabling me to clearly understand what happened to you.
You seem to have just started the posting. For real?

It’s unfortunate that I have little chance to go to Matuda ball park as I live in Tokyo..
I will head for some stadiums in Kanto area(Meiji-Jingu Stadium, Tokyo Dome and so on) during
    baseball season instead.
I am looking forward to touching Chris’s pitch there!

Nice to meet you,Carly. I am a huge fan of Kris Johnson.I wrote a littel about him in English. If you don’t mind , please take a look at this.
Hiroshima Carp pitcher Kris Johnson is a fast learner. “He can throw breaking balls for strikes,” Carp catcher Ishihara said. “Usually, foreigner pitchers tend to throw hard, but he can use breaking balls, and that’s what he’s best at.” That’s something many foreign pitchers feel is key to NPB success.
As part of his method of psyching out his opponent, he inhales, deeply puffing out like a blowfish. In the dugout, he puts on his cap back to front, relaxing by leaning on the pole with his hands crossed, and resting his head on his hands. He is a great pitcher and an entertainer.
    Thank you.

  10. Michael Takeuchi

    Hi Carly,

My name is Mike Takeuchi and I am a writer based in California. I used to be a sportswriter, but now am working on a book project. But the Carp and Kris were so interesting, I had to write a story about them. I interviewed Kris back in July in Hiroshima shortly after he pitched a great game against Hanshin in Osaka. Here is the link to the story: http://miketakeuchi.blogspot.com/2016/10/hiroshima-will-rely-on-california-and.html the I posted after he won the Sawamura Award. I just wanted to pass on my best wishes to Kris and to say that I am very happy for his success. I just wish the Carp would have given him some runs yesterday! And if you guys need a business for the offseason-please think of opening up a store for Japanese baseball goods. Tried to buy a Johnson jersey and cap on the Carp site, and they said they don’t sell in the US! Take care and wishing you the best! Mike

  12. Yuuji Nakagawa

    Hi Carly.
My name is Yuuji. I have been worried about your husband Kris’s health. Today(May 6th) I was very much relieved to find in another Japanese blog and your blog that he restored his health and got back to practice.
Today the Carp was completely defeated by Hanshin Tigers and got down to the second place from the top. We are waiting for Kris to come back.
Last year the Carp won the Pennant of the Central League for the first time in 25 years thanks to Kris and many players. Lots of Carp fans including me are expecting that the Carp win the championship again this year.
I have been a Carp fan for more than a half a century. The Carp was the weakest team in the Central League. I became a Carp fan mainly because I am Hanganbiiki in Japanese, which means a person who is weaker’s sides.
I remember when in 1968 the Carp got the third place of the pennant race thanks to two great pitchers, Aniya and Sotokoba. And I vividly remember when in 1975 the Carp won the the first championship in their history and that I jumped for joy.
We are earnestly waiting for Kris.
Kris shall make a new leaf in the Carp history.
